Thirteen rental branches at Kanazawa Station: how to choose

Kanazawa Station has thirteen rental branches from eleven companies. They are on both the west (Kanazawa Port) side and the east (Kenrokuen) side, and one is close to the station concourse.

This page compares each branch's address, hours, access and rules on one-way returns, with reference prices and return MAPCODEs. A branch on the same side as your hotel saves crossing the station.

  • West (Kanazawa Port) side: Nippon, Toyota West Exit, Orix West Exit and Budget.
  • East (Kenrokuen) side: Toyota Shinkansen (East) Exit, Orix East Exit, Nissan, Sky, Nico Nico and One's.
  • Close to the concourse: Eki Rent-a-Car is under the local-line viaduct, about 70 m from the ticket gates.
  • Returning at another branch: Nippon, both Toyota branches, Orix East Exit and West Exit, Sky (branches in the Ishikawa district) and Eki Rent-a-Car handle returns to other branches.
  • A lower base rate: on the Japanese-licence standard rates before discounts, Eki Rent-a-Car is lowest among the large companies at ¥8,470 for a compact car for 24 hours. Among smaller companies, Guts is ¥4,070, One's Kanazawa East Exit ¥4,700 and Nico Nico ¥5,610. Guts includes no vehicle damage cover and limits mileage to 300 km per 24 hours.

Toyota, Orix East and West Exit and Nissan lend ETC cards for expressway tolls. Guts and One's cars have an ETC reader. The other company pages do not cover ETC cards, so ask when you book. Guts does not normally rent on an International Driving Permit (IDP). At Nico Nico, an IDP holder must handle the contract in Japanese without an interpreter or translation app, and acceptance varies by branch.

Reference rates at ten companies

These are compact-car standard rates: regular season, tax included, before discounts, on a Japanese driving licence. The 48-hour total is the first 24 hours, one further day and two days of basic collision damage waiver (CDW). One's rates vary by branch and it mainly uses used cars; the row shows the Kanazawa East Exit branch. Guts does not publish a further-day rate. Check whether your dates fall in a high season.

With a foreign licence, Toyota has a separate list: C1 is ¥10,340 for the first 24 hours and ¥8,690 for each further 24 hours, before optional cover. Get a quote for your own licence and dates at the other companies, because these figures are not a visitor quote.

Read the driving licence guide before you book, and the CDW and NOC guide to see what basic cover leaves you paying.

Head to a branch on your hotel's side

Toyota has branches on the first floor of the TRL Building on the west side and on the first floor of PORTE Kanazawa on the east side. "Shinkansen Exit" in a branch name does not mean the west side. Sky is also on the first floor of PORTE Kanazawa on the east side, and you can reach it by the underground passage from the east exit in rain. Nico Nico is about 130 m from underground exit A-7.

Because of its car-park height limit, Nippon West Exit cannot rent out 10-seat wagons or trucks. For a large group, first compare the branches that can supply a car for your group. Orix Nishihonmachi Counter is reached by bus from the station and does not offer returns to other branches.

Use Toyota's return MAPCODEs

Toyota West Exit's return MAPCODE is 41587056*23, and the East Exit's return car park is 41558670*25. Both differ from the branch codes, so enter the return code when you drive back.

Toyota East Exit closes at 18:00 on 31 December. Work back from the time you need to finish refuelling, entering the car park and the return paperwork. If you plan to return at Komatsu Airport, compare the one-way return to the airport branch and the transfer to the terminal as well.

Frequently asked questions

Are all Kanazawa Station branches at the west exit?

No. Toyota, Orix, Nissan, Sky, Nico Nico and One's all have branches on the east (Kenrokuen) side.

Can I use Times Kanazawa Station?

It stopped taking rentals on 31 October 2026 and has been car-share only since 1 November. Choose another branch.

Guts does not publish a further-day rate. A foreign licence can change the price: Toyota C1 starts at ¥10,340 for the first 24 hours.
