Naha Airport has 74 rental branches: how to choose

Naha Airport, on the coast of Naha on the main island of Okinawa, is served by 74 rental branches from 66 companies. No rental branch is inside a terminal, so every company takes you to a branch outside the airport. The rental shuttle area is across the pedestrian crossing outside the arrivals exits on 1F of the domestic terminal, and companies are divided between stops such as 10, 11-A, 11-B and 14.

This page compares the shuttle stops, closing times and return deadlines, one-way rentals, and the difference between hourly rates and overnight rates, with reference prices from standard published rates.

  • Getting into a car quickly: at most major companies and large local companies, you wait by the staff member or sign at the stop and board the shuttle (Toyota, Nippon, Orix, Times, Nissan, Sky, J-Net, ABC, Fuji and others). At ABC, allow about 60–90 minutes from arriving at the airport to collecting the car.
  • Arriving late or returning late: no branch opens 24 hours, and the latest closing time is 20:00. Times takes flights arriving up to 18:00, and Daihatsu's last shuttle is at 18:30. On a late flight, you can stay in Naha and rent the next morning.
  • Returning somewhere else: one-way rentals are available at Toyota's three branches (main island only), Nippon's two branches, Orix Naha Airport (main island only) and others. Most local companies require you to return to the branch where you rented.
  • Keeping the cost down: on standard rates before discounts, Toyota is the cheapest major company for a compact at ¥8,580 for 24 hours on a Japanese licence. Among local companies, Daido (¥6,000 with basic CDW included) and Fuji (¥6,900 for one night and two days, also included) are low. Guts (¥4,070) has no vehicle damage cover in the rate and includes 300 km per 24 hours.
  • Summer and holidays cost more: prices in Okinawa change a lot by season. The rates in the table are for the regular season, and July to August, long holiday periods and New Year cost more.

  • The 48-hour total is the first 24 hours, one additional day and two days of basic CDW. A dash means the company's rate table does not list that fee. Where basic CDW shows "Included", the rate already contains it. Extra hours, fuel, one-way fees and options such as child seats are not included.
  • Most companies offer member or online discounts, so the booking screen is often cheaper than this table. Peak periods such as Golden Week, Obon and New Year cost more. Enter your dates and class for the actual price.
  • Guts' base rate has no vehicle damage cover. After an accident you pay up to ¥50,000 or ¥100,000 (waived with basic CDW). The NOC is ¥30,000 even if the car can still be driven.
  • Guts includes 300 km per 24 hours and charges ¥11 per extra km. Its rate table does not list a daily rate from the second day.
  • One's uses mainly used cars and charges the same for compact and kei cars. Without road-service cover (¥880 a day), road service costs ¥27,500 per call. Rates vary by branch; M class at Kanazawa Station East Exit is ¥4,700 for 24 hours.
  • Carsta's rate table does not say whether tax is included. From the second day the charge is ¥2,250 per 12 hours, and new and hybrid cars cost 30% more.
  • Daido's normal price includes basic CDW and tax. The web price is ¥4,600 for 24 hours, then ¥4,000 a day.
  • Daido's minivan (type C: Delica, Alphard, Noah) is ¥9,500 for 24 hours at the normal price. You cannot choose the model.
  • Daido takes payment in advance at the counter on the day of the contract.
  • Even with Daido's basic CDW, you pay for repairs to the rental car after a single-car accident and for tyre punctures or bursts. The NOC is separate: ¥20,000 if you can return the car to the planned branch, ¥50,000 if not.
  • Fuji charges by calendar day. The 24-hour figure is the Naha branch's one-night, two-day rate of ¥6,900 (same-day ¥4,100; add ¥2,900 per day from two nights and three days). All plans include basic CDW, and the page heading says tax is included.
  • Fuji's Yaris and 8-seat wagon plans (Voxy, Delica D5) are for pickup and return at the Naha branch only. The Yaris at the Ishigaki branch is ¥7,600 for one night and two days, then ¥3,700 a day.
  • Fuji's basic CDW does not waive the NOC (¥20,000 if drivable, ¥50,000 if not). Anshin cover, which waives it, is ¥800 a day.
  • Mahalo lists lowest rates that vary by date and rise most in summer and over long holidays. The 24-hour figure is its one-night, two-day rate from ¥8,000; two nights and three days start at ¥12,000.
  • Mahalo's rates include tax and the excess waiver for injury and property liability. Vehicle cover for the rental car itself is optional at ¥1,000 a day before tax, and NOC cover is ¥500 a day before tax. Without vehicle cover you pay the whole repair bill for the rental car. Minivans (Delica D:5, 90 Voxy hybrid; 8 seats) start at ¥13,000 for one night and two days.
  • Daihatsu (Ryukyu Daihatsu) season rates (28 April–7 May, 21 July–30 September, 25 December–6 January) are ¥9,900 for 24 hours and ¥8,400 per day after that for the Thor, and ¥21,800 for 24 hours for the Voxy.
  • Daihatsu's rate table does not say whether tax is included (only welfare vehicles are noted as tax-exempt). The vehicle excess on small cars is ¥100,000, and the Anshin Pack that waives the NOC is ¥750 a day.
  • Daihatsu does not offer one-way rentals. Payment is in advance, in Japanese yen cash or by credit card.
  • Toyota has member discounts of 10% and 20%. Branches in the 23 wards of Tokyo, Oshima and Narita Airport use the Tokyo rate.
  • Sky's basic CDW varies by region: ¥1,320 in Hokkaido, ¥1,100 in Honshu and Shikoku, ¥1,430 in Kyushu and ¥1,650 in Okinawa. Members and prepayment each get 5% off.
  • Times has member rates of up to 20% off.
  • Nippon has a separate member rate table.
  • Nissan's basic CDW is calculated on the Standard Plan at ¥1,650 a day.
  • Orix has member discounts and a 5% web discount.
  • HV's base rate includes basic CDW and vehicle cover. The NOC is ¥20,000 if driven back and ¥100,000 if towed; NOC Wide cover is ¥1,000 a day plus tax.
  • HV lists standard prices as starting rates, which may fall further in some seasons and campaigns. The table does not say whether tax is included. The ¥23,100 minivan seats 8–10 (Delica D5, Hiace Grand Cabin).
  • J-Net's basic CDW (Anshin cover) is ¥1,650 a day in the Okinawa area only.
  • Luana charges by calendar day with a two-day minimum, so its compact company rate is two days of the ¥7,000 daily Vitz rate at Miyakojima (D regular band).
  • Luana's rates include tax, insurance and the Anshin Pack (basic CDW, NOC waiver, road service), and you need not refuel before returning.
  • Luana's daily rate has five season bands. The Vitz at Miyakojima is ¥9,500 (A top), ¥8,500 (B high), ¥7,500 (C shoulder), ¥7,000 (D regular) and ¥6,500 (E off). D regular runs 20 October–3 November 2026, 4–11 January 2027 and 25 October–3 November 2027.
  • Luana's Naha Airport branch has no compact. The kei Taft is ¥6,500 a day in D regular (¥13,000 as the 24-hour figure) and the Delica D:5 is ¥12,000 a day.
  • Holiday's rate table has only off and top seasons. The 24-hour figure is its off-season one-night, two-day rate of ¥13,200; top season is ¥27,500. Season dates are not published.
  • All Holiday plans include basic CDW, NOC cover and tax. In the off season the price rises ¥5,100 per day from two nights and three days up to four nights and five days, then ¥6,600 per day.
  • Holiday's minivan (Noah, Step Wagon; 7 seats) is ¥17,050 for one night and two days off season and ¥53,400 in top season. It does not rent kei or compact cars to drivers licensed under six months, or other cars to those licensed under two years.
  • ABC charges by calendar day. The 24-hour figure is its one-night, two-day rate of ¥14,300 (regular season, tax included). A same-day return is ¥7,150. Booking on its own website includes basic CDW in the rate.
  • ABC's high season is ¥18,700 for one night and two days in S class. Remaining high-season dates are 20–22 November and 28–31 December 2026, and 1–2 January, 8–10 January and 19–31 March 2027.
  • ABC's minivan (WA class: Voxy, Serena; 8 seats) is ¥37,400 for one night and two days in the regular season.

Prices differ by licence. The table uses the Japanese-licence rate. On a foreign licence, Toyota C1 is ¥10,340 for the first 24 hours and ¥8,690 for each additional 24 hours, before optional cover; the Toyota row above uses the separate Japanese-licence rates of ¥8,580 and ¥7,260. The other companies in the table publish no separate foreign-licence rate here, so get a quote for your own licence.

A foreign licence needs the original licence, a 1949 Geneva Convention International Driving Permit (or an official Japanese translation for licences from Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco and Taiwan) and your passport. See driving in Japan on a foreign licence. Sky rents on a Geneva Convention permit with a passport, or on a foreign licence with a Japanese translation and a passport. Guts does not normally rent on an International Driving Permit.

From arrival to the shuttle stop

Rental shuttles at Naha Airport leave from stops across the road outside the arrivals exits on 1F of the domestic terminal, reached by the pedestrian crossing. Starting from the ANA side (arrivals B), the stops run in the order 10, 11 (A and B) and 14. Check your company's stop in the table below and in your booking information.

Stop Main companies
10 Daihatsu, You-I, Grace Okinawa, HV, Heat Sports, Celeb
11-A Toyota (3 branches), Nippon (2 branches), J-Net, ABC
11-B Sky, Fuji, Kanucha, Apple (2 branches)
11 Orix (3 branches), Times, Nissan
14 Car Rental Okinawa, Factory, Trip, Ookini!, Handyman, Flight Naha Airport branch, Mario (2 branches), Treasure, UME, Luana (14-B), A.S, Smile Resort, Kaiteki, Royal, Chachatto
3F (departures level) Mahalo (outside entrance 4 on 3F of the domestic terminal; you must phone)

Besides waiting at a stop, some companies work differently.

  • Phone after arrival for a pickup: Daido, Aqua, Guts, Kukuru, ZH, DX, Kuruca, Hirahira, Holiday, ACS and others. You are told where to wait when you phone.
  • No shuttle; the branch pays or discounts the taxi fare: Select, Universe, Platinum, Vacation, Let's Go, Coldio, Alsta and Jasmine (depending on the plan). Conditions and limits vary by company.
  • Recommending transfer at Akamine Station on the Yui Rail: United (because the airport shuttle area is crowded) and One's (rentals under 48 hours get only a lift to Akamine Station).

Several companies' shuttles come to the same stop. Before boarding, check the company name and the branch you booked. In summer and on holidays the shuttles are crowded, and at Nippon, road works can make the trip between branch and airport take up to about an hour.

Returning the car: work back from closing time and the shuttle

To return, bring the car to the branch you booked and take the shuttle back to the airport. Return deadlines differ by company: Nippon asks for two hours before the scheduled departure of your flight, and Times for 90 minutes before your flight. Sky runs a shuttle leaving the branch 90 minutes before your flight. Many local companies also ask for two hours before departure.

Some branches close early. Orix Naha Airport and JAL Pack Premier, Times and Daido close between 18:00 and 19:00, and Daihatsu's last shuttle is at 18:30. Toyota and Nippon have return mapcodes, so enter the return code in your navigation instead of the branch address (Toyota Naha Airport 3309407177, Nippon Naha Airport Toyosaki 232 543 22567).

For one-way rentals, many companies limit returns to branches on the main island, and returns on outlying islands are not possible. Fuji accepts returns to its Okinawa City branch for an extra ¥2,200, and Kanucha offers one-way rentals between its Airport-mae branch and its branch inside Kanucha Resort (bookings from 1 July 2026 carry a ¥5,000 delivery fee per car).

Separating your Naha stay from your rental days

If you stay in Naha on your arrival day and have days without the car, renting for only the days you need from a branch in the city can suit you better than renting from day one at the airport. Compare the total with hotel parking and the rate for the days you do not use the car.

Some branches are within walking distance of Akamine or Oroku stations on the Yui Rail, or offer station transfers (Toyota Naha Airport is 5 minutes on foot from Akamine Station, Orix JAL Pack Premier about 6 minutes on foot from Akamine Station, and ABC 5 minutes on foot from Oroku Station). On days with a lot of luggage or rain, take the walk and the weather into account.

If you are also going to Miyakojima or Ishigaki, rent and return on each island separately, from the rental branches at Miyako Airport and Ishigaki Airport.

Naha Airport rental car FAQ

Can I rent at the airport and leave straight away?

No branch is inside the terminal, so you wait for the shuttle at the stop and complete the paperwork at the branch before leaving. At ABC, allow about 60–90 minutes from arriving at the airport to collecting the car. Leave time around your first plan on arrival day.

Can I still rent if I land late at night?

No branch opens 24 hours, and the latest closing time is 20:00. Times takes flights arriving up to 18:00, and at Toyota, if a delayed flight lands outside hours, the rental starts the next day. On a late flight, you can stay in Naha and rent the next morning.

What does one night and two days cost?

At companies charging by the hour, a full two days (48 hours) with basic CDW, on standard rates before discounts and on a Japanese licence, is about ¥18,040 at Toyota, ¥18,260 at Nippon, ¥18,975 at Times, ¥19,580 at Sky, ¥20,020 at Orix, ¥20,790 at Nissan and ¥22,550 at J-Net. On a foreign licence, Toyota's base rate is higher; see the price section above. At local companies charging by the calendar day, the "one night and two days" rate is the guide: Fuji ¥6,900, Holiday ¥13,200 (off-season) and ABC ¥14,300 (regular season), all including basic CDW. Mahalo starts at ¥8,000, with vehicle damage cover (¥1,000 a day before tax) to pay for repairs to the rental car charged separately. Summer and long holidays cost more.

Can I rent at Naha Airport and return at another branch?

Toyota, Nippon and Orix Naha Airport accept one-way returns at branches on the main island. Most local companies require you to return to the branch where you rented, and those that allow one-way have set destinations and fees. Name your return branch when you book and confirm it.

Where is the shuttle stop?

It is the rental shuttle area across the pedestrian crossing outside the arrivals exits on 1F of the domestic terminal. Toyota and Nippon use 11-A, Sky and Fuji use 11-B, Orix, Times and Nissan use 11, and most local companies use 10 or 14. Mahalo picks up on 3F, the departures level of the domestic terminal.
